Sample Submission Guidelines
Each sample should contain the following information:
- Unique sample ID (avoid using OSL-1, OSL-2, LOE-1, LOE-2, etc)
- Depth below surface (in meters)
- Latitude and longitude (in decimal degrees)
- Elevation (in meters)
- Estimated age and/or other age control
- Photos, site descriptions, stratigraphic logs
Turnaround time
Please contact us to inquire about current turnaround times for specific analysis types and sample quantities. As a general guideline, the typical processing time is approximately 6 months for up to 15 samples submitted for quartz OSL-SAR dating and up to 8 samples submitted for potassium feldspar pIRIR-SAR dating. Actual turnaround times may vary depending on sample age and luminescence characteristics.

Registration for a personal radiation dosimeter
Users performing luminescence measurements must have their personal radiation dosimeter to access the luminescence reader’s room. Issuing a personal dosimeter must be requested in advance and requires certification of basic knowledge of ionizing radiation and a Brazilian CPF number for registration. Foreigners can obtain a CPF number here . Once you are scheduled to use the lab, send a copy of your CPF to legal@usp.br
